Hello, Danger Corps! It’s Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and apparently “leopards eating people’s faces” has become less of a metaphor and more of a Republican policy rollout.
The U.S. and Iran are trading strikes again after nearly a month without a major exchange, while military leaders have reportedly warned that a prolonged campaign could strain American capabilities elsewhere. Back home, the House has returned from vacation to deal with the thrilling little matter of keeping the government funded past September 30, because nothing says responsible governing like repeatedly approaching the edge of a shutdown just to make sure everybody’s paying attention.
On top of Milo Yiannopoulos catching the deportation winds, the MAGA boomerang is still flying through the air. Trump’s new plan to bring in 300,000 metric tons of lower-tariff foreign beef is getting hammered by Republican lawmakers and American ranchers, while hospitals are already preparing for the effects of nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid reductions, including systems serving rural communities Republicans depend on politically.
Turns out the fine print on “owning the libs” occasionally says some restrictions also apply to those thinking they’re in the clear.
