WE THE PEOPLE are standing up! We are the ones being murdered in the streets! We are protesting! We are boycotting! Congress needs to stand with us!!! They need to DO THEIR JOB!!

There must be WARRANTS! Warrants for Immigration violations and Warrants to enter our homes and businesses.

Sidenote- masked unidentified men breaking in my home without a warrant will be met with my protection. I do not know if they are ICE.

Kathy Pelmo's avatar

At the very least warrants! And no masks. And ID. But I would rather not ICE at all!! Remember to call your Senators to keep up the pressure!!

Ellen Nordstrom's avatar

Yes!!!! God help us if the Democrats don't press on this. They often waste opportunities to follow up on truly important issues, this being the latest and most heinous issue.

Robert Smith's avatar

What? No mention by the white guys about the black guy, Keith Porter? Big shock...

Ellen Nordstrom's avatar

I get it, but these were caught on camera nationally and more recently and are fresher in many people's minds. It doesn't make it less important for Keith Porter, but I hadn't heard about him until very recently, so the media coverage was the one that lacked justice.

Robert Smith's avatar

Excuses are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stink. Uncle Sam taught me that one in the Army. It really stuck with me.

Ellen Nordstrom's avatar

Hey, Robert. Thanks for sharing your opinion. I wasn't aware that I was making excuses.I do see an inequality of the isolated heinous incidents not captured during a protest and that many of those "incidents" include those with darker complections and skin pigments. So the comment that I made wasn't meant to be an excuse or even a justification, but just mentioning the case of the media not covering individual incidents enough for me and others to be aware of. But you do have a point! Would the same coverage be given to non-whites had they experienced what Renee Good and Alex Pretti had? ( I believe so, as we did when we rallied on behalf of George Floyd's shameful murder, but thats just me.)

I think the witnessing of blatant non-sensical idiotic murders in broad daylight, make it impossible to forget or to overlook. And yet...those who were deported to El Salvador, Libya, etc.,

and/or held in American "holding" cells are inadvertently being killed or risk death by the inhumane conditions that they endure.

Robert Smith's avatar

To be fair, Ellen, you didn't create the excuse. It's just the most convenient excuse floating around these days. I just think the extra second to say or type Keith Porter wouldn't kill anybody. Then again, this regime kills for less. So, what do I even know any more?

I will do my best to make sure if I have to die too, that my death will include a snuff film so people can stay arguing about it, and I'll go down talk mad shit. They hate nothing more than a mixed black man with a big mouth.

When this is all said and done, I would like to see a national monument with all of the names. All of them, or as many as we can document.

👍🏼😠 It's sickening. He was the first mortality of ICE. Why isn't he mentioned? Doesn't he matter? He represents the citizens DHS are scapegoating.

Chris Rogers's avatar

I think it’s VITAL that we are inclusive of all those victimized by ICE & CBP. Please continue pressing this point, and I as a middle-aged white guy here in the Twin Cities will, too! We think of Renee & Alex here, but ought to include Keith Porter. Shared experiences of mistreatment draw us closer as a political force! There have been many others that were transported to detention then died/were killed! I hope that this is incorrect, but there might be more killings unknown or in the future. We’ll need to make more space on the list ☹️

Robert Smith's avatar

Well, said, Roger. I love how when Tess expressed concern over the inequality of media exposure for Porter, you offered agrreance and support, rather than attack. If more people had similar attitudes, I'd be less pissed off and demoralized all the time.

Chris Rogers's avatar

Hey, thanks! At my next demonstration, at which we are going to "confess" to "crimes" here in MN, I'm thinking about stating something about forgetting to put Keith Porter Jr.'s name on my protest signs. 💙🙂 I might lead off with my decision to film vehicles when they approached an intersection shutdown in the week after Renee Good's murder.

(from Chris in MN)

Ellen Nordstrom's avatar

Of course, he matters! The media was more present for the protests, I think, and more people witnessed Good and Pretti's murders, than those carousing on New Year's...NOT THAT THAT SHOULD BE AN EXCUSE.

Is this really what you want to make this post about? Which side are you on? Maga?

Tess Étouffée's avatar

Wanting Keith Porter memorialized isn't MAGA. YOU sound like a white person who's never had to worry about erasure. Be better. After all, brown and black people don't have your privilege. Think before responding.

2sjus892las82's avatar

Making assumptions about the people you meet in text is foolish. Pick your battles. This is not the battle to pick. Nor the time. The fact that we're having this debate on this post in this fashion is hurting both causes and we agree with both of them.

Be humble and heed your own advice rather than pick fights with your allies.

Tess Étouffée's avatar

I'm fairly certain I was correct. Only an entitled white man would make a statement like yours. I know. I'm also a white person. I've heard men like you talk and you say the quiet part out loud.

Robert Smith's avatar

It's hard to feel like I have any allies, when the media only wants to talk about the collateral damage, white people, while continuing to gloss over the brown people. If you think that's ok, you and MAGA can both fvck right off.

Karen Spencer's avatar

Your not mistaken. The Quota iS 3,000 per day!! Thousands more have died or are dying or sent to foreign countries to rot. They all matter.! And, WHERE’s our babies, all the children??? There’s two “Tender Age” detention centers in Texas-all very young children. WTF are they doing with them?? Whose compassionately watching over them: caring for them? Every single death/disappearance matters!!! Keith Porter-say his name😪🙏.

Robert Smith's avatar

Keith Porter, and those are very important questions to be asking, but the answers are ugly ASF. It's sad and infuriating coming from a regime that preaches pro life while supporting a baby killing rapist.

That's their whole strategy, though, isn't it? Overwhelm us into submission. I'll die first and piss off a few people before I do.

Everyone is leaving out a powerful weapon in fighting what ICE is doing: the FACTS.

Will deporting undocumented immigrants make America safer?

Reams of research has shown that immigrants, both documented & undocumented, commit very few violent crimes. Most violent crimes in the US are committed by homegrown, born-in-the-USA Americans.

Want to live in a safe part of town? Move to where the immigrants are living. Want to make America safer? Allow more immigrants in.

You need to start pushing the US Nuremberg Trials. We need to get prepared to have them and to mete out the death penalty for the criminals in and supporting the Trump Crime and Terrorist Regime. Bovino and Noem must be the first two examples made for all the other heinous criminals in this Regime of what they are going to get.

Chris Rogers's avatar

You don't suppose that Kristi Noem had to do stuff or at least promise to, in exchange for keeping her job, during that 2-hour meeting with T*?! I WOULD NOT want to be a fly on the wall in that room!

Tess Étouffée's avatar

I really think it's unfair that Keith Porter isn't mentioned. Not even a fucking footnote. Wth?
