It’s Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and America has entered the “somebody hide the power tools and the tariff button” portion of the week.💥

Trump paused his threatened 50% tariffs on $20 billion in Canadian imports for three days after announcing that the two countries have the beginnings of a deal, which means hockey sticks and tongue depressors have temporarily escaped the world’s dumbest hostage negotiation.

Meanwhile, Florida voters delivered a genuine political plot twist: progressive state Rep. Angie Nixon defeated Alex Vindman (🤯🤯🤯) in the Democratic Senate primary despite being dramatically outspent by a lot. And because normal presidents renovate a bathroom, Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom project has reached the Supreme Court, where preservationists are trying to stop him from turning the East Wing into Mar-a-Lago’s federal banquet annex.

While Washington argues over tariffs, primaries and whether the White House needs enough ballroom space to host the world’s saddest prom, we thought you could use a laugh!! 😂
