Hello Danger Corps!
I have spent years telling Democrats not to trust polls, never assume voters learned anything, and always remember America’s incredible ability to touch the same hot stove four consecutive times. Today, however, I bring disturbing news: we may actually be allowed to feel optimistic. Harry Enten just ran the midterm scenarios and found that a Democratic sweep of the House and Senate is the single most likely individual outcome. Meanwhile Texas is competitive, Iowa is competitive, Ohio is competitive, Alaska is competitive, and Democrats suddenly have something they have not had in a while: multiple paths to victory.
Now, this does not mean we start measuring the curtains in the Senate Majority Leader’s office. The entire point is the opposite. Hope is useful when it makes people work harder.
That is what TDO is trying to do with political comedy. Give people enough truth to understand the stakes, enough laughter to avoid burning out, and enough community to remember that none of us is fighting alone.
