Hello, Danger Corps! It’s Thursday, November 5, 2026, and the ballots are still being counted, history is being made, and Mike Johnson has decided he’s had enough of the management business! America has turned the page, and somebody better make sure the history books have room for all these new chapters!
First up, Democrats have won control of BOTH chambers of Congress, and the historic firsts keep coming! Georgia elected Keisha Lance Bottoms, America’s first Black woman governor; Michigan elected Abdul El-Sayed, the first Muslim U.S. senator; New Hampshire elected Chris Pappas, the first openly gay man elected to the Senate; and Minnesota elected Peggy Flanagan, the first Native American woman senator. New Mexico also elected Deb Haaland, the first Native American woman governor. The history books might need an expansion!
And some Republican strongholds made history of their own! Texas elected Gina Hinojosa, its first Democratic governor since 1994, and James Talarico, its first Democratic U.S. senator elected since 1988. Kansas elected Adam Hamilton, its first Democratic senator since 1932, while South Carolina elected Annie Andrews, its first Democratic senator elected since 1998. Georgia also elected its first Democratic governor since 1998! Meanwhile, Alaska and Mississippi still have outstanding Senate results. That’s a whole lot of political calendars getting reset!
Back at the house we learned Mike Johnson is stepping away from Republican leadership! He won’t seek the House Republican leader position next year, although he’s keeping his seat in Congress. The newly elected Congress takes office January 3, 2027, when new congressional majorities can begin setting priorities and conducting oversight. Johnson isn’t leaving the building. He’s just moving out of the management office!
And to our international Danger Corps: While America’s election has captured plenty of attention, people around the world are working toward fairness, accountability, and a better future. Our challenges may look different, but our determination to keep moving forward connects us. Wherever you’re reading from, thank you for being part of this community. We’re in this together!
The votes are still being counted, but there’s already plenty to appreciate. So while we wait for the next chapter, we’ve got memes, behind the scene photos, episode links, comments and calls from the Danger Corps, and some political mischief to share! 😂

Absolutely breathtaking what WE voters did. We showed em!
If anyone hasn't watched Rachel Maddow from last night's 8pm special, its doozy! We flipped whole states.
Plus Georgia. Holy Smokes. You made history and it wasn't Ossoff either.
An all black woman government has taken center stage and all because of Stacy Abrams efforts to move us forward. WELL DONE.
I can't pick just one in the poll, it's AFFORDABILITY & ACCOUNTABILITY for me. simultaneously! Thanks again, TDO, for helping us keep our sanity and now for celebrating!
