Against all odds, medical expectations, and apparently the wishes of Satan himself, Mitch McConnell has returned to the United States Senate. After disappearing for three months, McConnell resurfaced in a wheelchair, delivered one deeply unsettling thumbs-up, and immediately gave the internet enough material to power the comedy grid through Christmas. In today’s episode, we examine the footage, the proof-of-life questions, the taxpayer-funded absurdity, and the avalanche of videos and memes that followed. We also ask the slightly more serious question hiding underneath all the jokes: should this man still be casting votes that affect hundreds of millions of people?
Laughter and activism belong together because authoritarian politics depends on exhaustion, fear, and people feeling alone. TDO exists to replace some of that dread with truth, joy, community, and enough dangerous humor to get us through another day.
