Hello, Danger Corps! It’s Monday, October 26, 2026, and Washington has eight days to convince voters everything is going according to plan. Judging by the headlines, somebody misplaced the plan.
First up, a federal appeals court is questioning the Trump administration’s effort to set aside roughly 20,000 California mail ballots over disputed citizenship claims. California says the government’s list is unreliable, and judges are asking whether Washington even has the authority to interfere. Meanwhile, a new Financial Times/Focaldata poll finds 69% of registered voters concerned about corruption, self-dealing, or conflicts of interest in Trump’s administration. And 56% say their finances have worsened since he took office. Not exactly the customer satisfaction survey the White House ordered! With November 3 approaching, Republicans are fighting to keep Congress, while Democrats are looking at what new oversight powers could mean if they win the House. The voters still get to decide that one.
