Hello, Danger Corps! It’s Tuesday, September 29, 2026, and Washington has somehow produced an entirely new batch of nonsense without reheating yesterday’s leftovers.
For starters, Andrew Bailey, one of the FBI’s two deputy directors, is leaving after just over a year, saying he wants to return to Missouri and spend more time with his family. Bailey came to the bureau as Missouri’s attorney general without prior FBI experience, and his departure follows Dan Bongino’s earlier exit from the same unusual co-deputy arrangement. Meanwhile, the Senate found something 77 members could agree on: regulating college sports. A sweeping bipartisan bill would establish national rules for athlete payments and transfers while giving the NCAA new authority and limited antitrust protection. It still has to survive the House, because apparently even college football needs a congressional conference call.
And the Education Department has formally scrapped the Biden-era Title IX regulations, returning federal policy to the framework established during Trump’s first administration. The changes affect how schools handle sexual-harassment cases and federal protections involving sexual orientation and gender identity.
And because apparently an ordinary 250-foot triumphal arch wasn’t quite subtle enough, Trump now says his proposed monument near Arlington National Cemetery would double as what he calls a “top grade Military Complex,” complete with large numbers of drones, snipers positioned on the roof and plaza, and stores of sniper ammunition. Trump says the change came at the military’s request, although the Pentagon told the Associated Press it had no information beyond the president’s announcement. The project is already facing legal challenges over whether it requires congressional approval, and aviation experts have raised questions about operating drones so close to Reagan National Airport. So somewhere along the way, “let’s build a giant fancy arch” apparently became “let’s give the giant fancy arch an ammo closet.”
So congratulations, America: we made it through one news cycle without needing Iran, gasoline, ICE, taxpayer-funded commercials or the White House press room.
While we wait we thought you could use a laugh!! 😂
