Hello, Danger Corps! It’s Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and apparently Washington has reached the part of the Bible study where everyone remembers the branding and skips ahead on the homework.
A clip making the rounds again features Christian YouTuber Gabe Poirot, who says that during an 18-day coma following a 2021 skateboard accident, he went to heaven and met Jesus. His description? Roughly 5’11” to 6 feet tall, extremely masculine and packing, in Poirot’s words, “testosterone… like a mustang.” We cannot independently verify the celestial scouting report, but it arrives at an interesting moment. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has created a Pentagon Office of Religious Affairs that reports directly to him, while the White House touts its Faith Office, Religious Liberty Commission and a list of “250 victories for people of faith.” Meanwhile, Trump just reversed course after backlash over millions in taxpayer-funded ads promoting his administration, saying future spots would be funded through MAGA Inc. Apparently, rendering unto Caesar gets complicated when Caesar has an advertising budget.
And that’s really where today’s theme lands. Faith itself isn’t the joke. Millions of Americans live their beliefs through compassion, humility, honesty, service and loving their neighbors. The question is what happens when politicians wrap themselves in that language while asking everyone else not to inspect the behavior underneath. Christianity isn’t supposed to be a permission slip. And Jesus probably doesn’t need a political communications director.
And to be clear, religion in politics isn’t automatically the problem. There are politicians who openly talk about their faith as a reason to serve people rather than a reason to rule them. James Talarico, a Presbyterian seminarian, regularly talks about Jesus’ command to love your neighbor as a guide for public service, while Sen. Raphael Warnock, who is also senior pastor of Atlanta’s historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, has described faith as “a bridge,” not a weapon. You don’t have to share their theology or their politics to recognize the difference: faith can inspire compassion, humility and service without becoming a costume politicians put on when the cameras arrive.
While Washington sorts out whether WWJD now requires a Pentagon sub-office, we thought you could use a laugh!! 😂
Today’s memes take on Mustang Jesus, government-issued holiness, selective commandments and the increasingly crowded intersection of church, state and campaign strategy, plus calls and comments from other Danger Corps members, episode links, the midterm countdown, and our usual behind-the-scenes nonsense and dangerous fun.
