Hello, Danger Corps! It’s Wednesday, October 14, 2026, and Washington has entered the part of election season where the campaign signs are multiplying, the wallets are opening, and apparently somebody forgot to tell the politicians that voters can read receipts.
Elon Musk has reportedly poured $366 million into the 2026 midterms, becoming the cycle’s biggest political donor. At this point, his wallet has attended more campaign events than some candidates. Meanwhile, Republican campaign groups are shifting money away from several competitive House districts, as Democrats look for opportunities to expand the electoral map. Apparently, the campaign strategy has gone from “We’re winning everywhere!” to “Does anybody have the return policy?” And Trump flew all the way to Alaska to campaign for Republicans, criticize ranked-choice voting, and promote energy deals. Nothing says confidence quite like a 3,400-mile trip to help defend a Senate seat.
With just three weeks until Election Day, the campaigns are getting louder, the spending is getting bigger, and voters are getting another opportunity to remind Washington who actually does the hiring.
